Saturday July 10, 8-10am, Sears Deck, closest to Piikoi
There will likely be discounts for the pake at the Ala Moana coffee shops, so it would be highly appreciated if you'd pick up a coffee from one of them on your way over. There's a Starbys below Sears, and a Coffee Bean by the Makai Food Court area.
Bring your fancy ride, bring your beater, bring your other car...but most of all bring your open mind, because some people bring Corvettes.
;-)
Ok, I'm just kidding. It's actually the Mustangs one has to make an exception for.
============================== And a treat for you for reading this far, another sweet YouTube video: Monza, 1971, Part 1
Great footage here from the pits and on track of the 4 Hours of
Monza, 1971. What a wonderful grid for 1971’s first event on the
European Touring Car Championship, with a pack of Alfa GTAMs, BMW 3.0s & 2002s
and 2800s, Fiat 500s <ahem!>, Escorts, and a Camaro or two for V8 sound effects.
All the
more exciting, this video has real audio with some great engine
screaming! Turn up your speakers.
@ 7:22 in to the vid, check out the Schnitzer 2002 with flat-slide kugelfischer injection. That setup must have been *the bomb* 39 years ago. And if you ask me, that car is still da bomb today. Shortly after, you see a 3.0 CS go by, followed by a Camaro.
The Pacific Aviation Museum is having another R/C
plane airshow. Last year's was good fun and you could drive right up to
the museum on Ford Island. If anyone wants to do that again this year,
the date is August 21. Email John to indicate interest.
July's meeting was on the first Friday, July 2, at the new Teddy's Bigger Burgers on Britannia and Duesenberg, near University. Super burgers, good fries, ample parking, cute gals taking the orders (and they got them right)...but no loo. Well, there was one--across the street in the park--but some of our fellow citizens had turned it into their domicile.
Some new members turned up too, one who had just bought an E30 325i convertible from Mike Harken and was enjoying it immensely.
So that leads to: Where to meet for August? Ideas to El Presidente.

June's meeting was in Kailua, on the first Saturday this time:
It was at: Kalapawai
Cafe & Market in Kailua (MAP - CLICK HERE
Apparently there's another one by the beach. Who knew?)
It was
well attended, and we virtually filled the back patio. We for sure
filled their parking lot with the 4 cars that did park there, causing
some of the regular Saturday morning take-out patrons to park on the
street and deign to walk in... so if we meet there again, I guess we've
been asked to park in the street and use our feet, or maybe we
can park across the street in the empty parking lot.
What is it
with people in Kailua that are too lazy to walk not even a quarter or
half block to get their take-out? Does driving a Prius make you smug and
suddenly soft in the middle?? Come on people, it is Hawaii, not Vermont
in January. Wait, this applies to most of the people in most of the
places on Oahu. Seriously. Use your feet and walk a little. /rant
Anyway,
awesome meeting with nice cars turning up. Nick P was back in town from
college and drove his newly painted 2002, the one that used to wear the
TWOOWT tag. That tag is da bomb for da bomb. Nick's dad brought his M3;
Ed brought he M roadster, the E34 Mafia's leader Signor Rob turned up
in his not-so-quiet M5 (maybe that's why we were asked to park far
away?) and there were some E36s and some other cars too.
May's meeting was also at Ruby Tuesdays and was attended by some new members, one couple whom recently moved here from Germany and promptly picked up a Z3.
The April 6 Monthly Meeting was at 6:30pm at the Ruby Tuesday's near the airport at Moanalua Shopping Center.
